Privacy Policy

NearGolf ("we", "us", "our") is a golf course finder. We take your privacy seriously and have designed the app and website to collect as little data as possible.

Information we collect

Location data (optional). On the web app, your location is requested only if you tap the "Find courses near me" button — it is never requested automatically. On the iOS app, location permission is requested when you first use the "Near Me" feature. We use your location only to sort and display nearby courses. We do not store your location on our servers.

Usage analytics. The iOS app uses PostHog (US cloud) to collect anonymous usage events — things like "user opened the map" or "user tapped a course." Events are keyed by a random per-install identifier, never your name, email, or any advertising ID. No personally identifiable information is attached. You can turn this off anytime in Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage analytics."

Crash reporting. The iOS app uses Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports. These reports contain device type, iOS version, and a stack trace. No personal data is included.

Contact. If you email us at [email protected], we retain your message and email address to respond to you. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Information we do NOT collect

• We do not require an account or login
• We do not store your location history
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties
• We do not use advertising trackers
• We do not track you across other websites or apps

Course data

Course information (names, locations, ratings, booking links) is sourced from OpenStreetMap, Google Places API, and publicly available sources. It is refreshed nightly. If you notice incorrect information about a course, please contact us.

Third-party links

When you tap "Book a tee time," we open the course's own booking site (foreUP, Chronogolf, GolfNow, etc.) in your browser. We have no control over those sites and their privacy policies apply once you leave NearGolf.

Children's privacy

NearGolf is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date.
